Building Board of Appeals

The Building Board of Appeals hears any appeals from the enforcing agency of the building code and renders a decision in writing not later than 30 days after the appeal is taken. It must also keep an indexed record of its decisions open for public inspection. The board may grant variances from the code which, if strictly applied, would result in exceptional practical difficulty to the applicant. It may also attach a condition to any variance granted it believes necessary to protect the health, safety and welfare of the public.

The Building Board of Appeals consists of not less than three nor more than seven members. All members must be qualified by experience or training in the building trades.

Building Board of Appeals meetings are scheduled "as needed".
