Charter Township of Comstock, Parks & Recreation

Comstock Township is the proud home of several of Michigan’s most beautiful parks. From the swan-laden Cooper Park, named after renowned author of The Last of the Mohicans, James Fenimore Cooper to the winding, scenic paths of McLinden Trails, named after one of our Townships most devoted residents, Fred McLinden, the parks in our Township offer a wide variety of recreational activities suitable for people of all ages. The boat launch will remain open during construction and after.

The Parks & Recreation Department has received a $300,000 grant from the State of Michigan’s Department of Natural Resources Trust Fund for improvements to Merrill Park. This is a wonderful opportunity to complete some much needed improvements and bring the community together at one of our most beloved parks. Updates include, new playground equipment, new pavilion, new basketball courts, as well as renovating the restrooms. We will add a walking path around the park, widening the entrance drive, and create a welcoming pedestrian entrance. The layout of the park will change with removal of the ball field and current amenities. If you would like more information about this project, please call the Parks Department at 269-343-8212 or visit a Parks & Recreation Commission meeting, second Monday of the month at 7:00pm at the Comstock Township Hall.
